Rock on, Wingers! Well, a little, huh Sarah?

Rock on!
Haha! Sarah was told that she would have to love everything about Erik, including his love for KISS. She agreed.. a little.

Two weeks ago I was in St. Augustine, Florida to shoot the wedding of Sarah Fisher and Erik Winger. Sarah is actually an old friend that I’ve known a number of years. We met through mutual friends. I used to train lifeguards for the Disneyworld Water Parks in Florida, and she’s a performer for Disneyworld and Universal Studios. We’ve kept in touch over the years despite being across the country and she’s followed my work, too.

So, about a year ago when Erik proposed, Sarah contacted me to figure out what it was going to take to get me out to Florida to shoot for her.  This was a big deal for me too. It means so much to me when someone wants to fly me across the country to shoot – and I’ve been booked out of state quite a bit this year. Also, Sarah has been one of the first to comment on every wedding that I’ve shot and added to my Facebook page and point out that “you’re shooting my wedding in a few months!”

I arrived in Orlando a bit early and then traveled with Erik and Sarah to St. Augustine where the wedding would be. I know that Sarah mentioned she was concerned that Erik and I wouldn’t have a lot of time to get to know each other before the wedding the day. I personally feel it’s important that I have a chance to meet the bride and groom before the wedding day if possible so they can get to know me and I can get to know them. Erik and I ended up getting along great – to the point where our joking around and sarcasm was bugging Sarah. I’m pretty sure there was a moment or two she had to say “Hey you’re MY friend” when I was siding with Erik on something, haha. Love you both!

The entire weekend spent with them was great. Their ceremony was beautiful. And there was just so much love and adoration between the two of them that I was able to watch. Honestly, it was wonderful to see Sarah so incredibly happy after all the frustration that came with putting the wedding together.

As usual, I’ll caption a number of the shots below and save you guys from reading too much text here.

And yes, my signature shot I do with most of my clients in some form. We weren’t too sure about beach access for images, but I’ll touch on that a bit later.

Please, read on after the break! I have over 100 images to share with everyone. Feel free to leave your comments and thoughts below, or contact me directly via email.

This was probably the coolest room on the whole tour of the winery for the tasting and tour we did.

I wouldn’t have the patience to make wine. It takes too long.

I don’t remember this guy’s name… but he was pretty cool. I learned a lot about wine that afternoon.

Aweee, kisses.

Rehearsal time!
Well, the first one. We did two run throughs.

Watch Erik through this whole series.. He was being, uh, fabulous.

Denied!
Sarah didn’t want to kiss him during the rehearsal.

Beer time!

You so pre-tayyyy, you have boy-freeeeeeennnn??
We were joking about that one comedian that talks about the nail salons.

To the interweb! No clue what Mike is looking up… but it’s obviously important.

This shot is just plain awesome.

Utz chips!
(Must be a Maryland thing… cuz I didn’t get it. But the two people in the room from Maryland did)

Morning of the wedding day.
Early start for the photographer and the bride-to-be.

Sarah, I know you’re going to hate me for uploading your silly faces… but, they’re pretty awesome.

Sarah’s dress. It was surprisingly hard to find a window to use that day.

I always love the dress-dressing photos… Seriously, it’s more like an install than “just getting dressed”… so much work goes into it. Haha!

Loved this quick informal shot during the portraits.

“It’s my wedding day. Dress me.”
At least that’s what I’d like to believe Erik is thinking…

How amazing is their cake?! I have more photos further down in this post. But these little husband and wife crabs along with the bucket of crabs for the actual cake was pretty impressive.

Erik and Sarah had a bottle of Pinot from a friend of theirs who had passed away earlier this year. They saved it to try on their wedding with friends of theirs.

Erik and the boys.

I’m remembering to eat John… Don’t worry..

This was hilarious. Sarah is actually trying to figure out a way to sit without flexing her dress too much with the corset. She ended up laying down across this bench for a bit to rest.

“The secret to flat abs is…”

They crammed a ton of people into that bridal room.

Need to bring the mouthwash for later. This is a greattt spot for it.

I have no idea what they were joking about, but they were rollin’ before the ceremony started.

Erik’s first look at Sarah, his brother Matt standing next to him.

Sarah and Erik had a beautiful day with great weather for their St. Austine, FL, wedding in November.

Sarah and Erik’s friend Sammy married them. There were lots of laughs and some very sweet things said during the ceremony

Exchanging of vows..

Sammy pointed out that Sarah will have to love everything about Erik – including his love for KISS.
Sarah agreed “slightly”.

By secret request by both Sarah (for Erik) and Erik (for Sarah) their friends sang for them. From what I understand, Sarah was told that “there was wasn’t enough time to put something together” for the ceremony. So, Erik “won” and Sarah was the one surprised with a song during the wedding.

…she actually had to turn away because she was getting too emotional. It was really sweet.

I’m positive Sarah is saying something about Erik being great.

You may kiss your bride!

Second kiss as husband and wife after they ran inside!

Come on Dad! We’re waiting on youuuu!!

How could the rest of the reception NOT be awesome with this group of groomsmen?!

I’m pretty sure that Sarah loves Erik’s bottle-flute playing abilities more than anything else…

Down to the beach for some portraits. Again, it was a beautiful day. Sarah was mildly concerned that there wouldn’t be enough beach available for images because the tide comes in pretty high at that location. But, it worked out perfectly.

Photobombed!
This guy strolled right through as we were setting up to shoot. I HAD to take a quick snap.

First dance as husband and wife.

I loved watching the emotion in Sarah’s face that whole afternoon. I had heard a lot about Erik when they first started dating. To be there to watch and photograph their wedding day meant a lot.

A few quick adjustments in camera, turn day into night and get some much moodier images.

Daddy-daughter dance.

Erik and his mother.

This little dude was workin those shades.

Erik’s mom looked so happy that day dancing with her son. Her other son, Erik’s brother Matt was watching off to the side. I have a photo of him as well watching. I liked that moment as well even though I didn’t include it here.

All the people in this image are trying out the wine from their late friend, memorialized by the “Prospector” doll. Judging from the look on their faces after they tried the wine, it wasn’t particularly amazing. haha.

See! How great is this cake? I dare someone to do something crazier for their wedding cake.. I dare you.

Mike was one of the funniest guys to watch on the dance floor.

Sarah, figuring out how to go about making space to cut the cake.

ARRRHHHHH!!!!

Gabe breaking it down. I don’t recall the girl’s name.

There is always some dress surgery that needs to be done at a wedding. Seriously, nine out of ten weddings the bustle breaks.

This little dude is going to put me out of work one day. The funny thing is that he’s butt-height for all the people dancing. I’m sure there are some rather interesting shots on whoever’s camera that is.

I really tried to get him to throw the devil horns Angus Young style, but, this was as close to the pose as we got.

Aaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!

Toward the end of the reception. Erik, Sarah and myself.

Sarah and Erik are performers, so, if you couldn’t tell from all the other shots, most of their friends are dancers and performers too.

Last slow dance of the night.

Erik and Sarah, on their cell phones after the ceremony for the pub crawl in historic St. Augustine. I think they were updating their facebook pages sometime around then.

Erik and most of the guys got up and sang and played for everyone at the bar. It was great. I have a video, I’ll have to upload it to share.

Walkin to the next pub.

Mike was pointing out this cafe… “Why don’t we go here. Look! A PLACE TO GATHERRR”

Shortly after we called it a night and went home. Everyone was pretty exhausted after a long and busy day.

I had a really great time in Florida with Erik and Sarah for their wedding. Their friends and family were all incredible and make me feel very welcome spending a few days with everyone. Erik and Sarah, thank you again for having me be part of such an important day in your lives together! I had a blast!
I ended up staying a few extra days in Orlando to see some friends from when I used to live in Orlando. So, my vacation extended to a Disneyworld trip, then also a Baltimore trip andddd even a Boston trip.

I will have some more images to share with you guys from the photoshoot I did with Beau Peregino to emulate the Call of Duty: Black Ops poster. I may also share a couple images from my short east coast tour that I did.

Check back soon everyone! I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend. December, here we come!
