Some new portraits for the Winter…

nwpt13

For the most part this year has been off to a quieter start than usual for me. But, I’ve stayed busy doing occasional portraits in the mean time as usual.

Several weeks back I attended a video shoot that a few of my friends were doing in Hollywood. Originally it was planned that I would be doing much more photography than what actually ended up happening. The video crew was busy pretty much the entire day with the models, and each time I was going to do some shooting with one of the girls she was quickly pulled away for video. My favorite shot from that entire day ended up being an image of John, one of the video crew members working that day. He’s in the image above on the far left.
I also did some shooting with Marcello, the male model that was there that day. Amber was also on the shoot – who I’ve shot in the past and is one of my favorite girls I’ve worked with. Sadly I didn’t have any time to shoot with her that day though, oh well.

I also created a new, and somewhat horrifying image of myself one night around 1am when I was bored and felt like shooting something. The upside of remote shooting and plenty of equipment is that I still have myself when no one is around. Haha! Check out the resulting image…

Not bad, eh?

Anyway, click past the break for a bunch of images from the rooftop fashion shoot. And some portraits of a couple family members I’ve photographed recently, too!

This was just a quick portrait shot of my friend Jenna. She came by on Superbowl Sunday last month to hang out. Neither of us were really watching the game, so we took some photos instead. She also posed to be my “model” for a graphic art piece I was creating. I’ll have to post that in another blog though.

Amber is one of the most beautiful girls I’ve shot. This is from our shoot over a year ago. I did a quick edit one night when I was up with nothing to work on.

These are the few photos I shot during the video shoot. Since they were filming I wasn’t able to use any lights and had to use their “natural light” setup they had with reflectors/etc. That’s all fine and good for video, however it’s not my style photography, so, there wasn’t much of a point for me to shoot much.

John Note was one of the video crew members that was there working that day. He had long hair, a beanie, and bright blue eyes. Totally the type of look I would want to photograph, it’s interesting and light eyes always pull you into the subject. So, as the night was wrapping up I asked if I could take his photo. This was actually the lighting test and ended up being favorite because it was expressionless and he was looking directly at me.

Marcello was the male model there for the shoot. This was one of his characters wardrobe pieces for the day. So we did some quick images of him since he spent almost as much time sitting around that day as I did.

Later that afternoon we did some shots with a bit more character and attitude

That evening Marcello’s twin brother came by to hang out – so of course I had to do a twins shot

A bit more recently I shot my cousin Gianni. He’s only mid-20’s and works incredibly crazy hours operating his own route as a Little Debbie supplier. He enjoys it though and is able to say his his own boss, unlike most of his friends. Plus the amount of time and effort required to manage yourself and your own business is not something most are willing to do.

We did one expressionless/serious shot, but, knowing Gianni his entire life it was clear that the attitude was totally not him. Haha, he’s actually typically always laughing and cracking jokes.

Most recently I photographed my Uncle Bob, who is married to my Aunt. Bob is one of kindest people you could possibly meet. And he works ridiculously long hours in his management position at work. However, when he has a little free time he’ll tell you he loves to be out in his garage working. He’s rebuild and restored many cars during his lifetime and even though his kids are grown with families of their own, they still drive the classic cars they rebuilt with their father.

Bob was out working in his garage one afternoon that I had stopped by to see my cousins. As I was just about to leave I stopped my car, pulled out my camera, and walked back into the garage and told Bob we were going to do a quick photo of him – he was more than happy to oblige me. We shot several photos and this was my favorite. I think the best part was hearing how pleased my aunt, his wife, was with the images as well as the comments I received online from Bob’s kids.

A slightly wider shot you can see a bit of the models around the garage on the shelves, and even a spare engine that needs to be worked on!

Currently I’ve been preparing for a trip to Florida. I’ll be out in Orlando to celebrate my birthday and see old friends. While there I’m actually going to head down to Sebring for the 12 Hours of Le Mans and photograph the kickoff of the series. You guys may remember that I shot the 12 Hours last March for Falken Tire. While Falken doesn’t need me on this particular race, I will be doing other races to support Falken throughout 2013. But kicking off my race work with a Le Mans race as great as Sebring is always a blast!

So, be sure to follow my Twitter account @johnremus or Instagram feed if you want to stay updated during the weekend. I don’t know what kind of reception I’ll have at the actual track since it usually is pretty terrible… but it’s worth a shot
