Color Correction
The following are examples of images from my work over the
05-06 school year.
Each has an explanation of what was done to improve each image before adding
it to my porfolio.

Central Michigan wide receiver Damien
Linson narrowly avoids a tackle from Ohio’s T.J. Wright in
the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Bobcats.
Linson’s 78-yard punt return for a touchdown later
in the quarter all but sealed a CMU victory.
Burned background, removed highlights from
fans to make Linson pop off image, removed shadows from face,
brightened edges of uniform to seperate him from background.
Burned shadows on the grass, cropped from original slightly.
Sharpened.

Left Wing Scott Thornton of the San Jose
Sharks enters the arena through smoke, lights, and the open
jaws of a Great White. The team enters the ice this way before
everyone home game in the HP Pavilion San Jose Arena.
Took out blues which brought out yellows
and oranges, burned teeth and nose of shark, sharpened.

Fraser senior Brian Gawronski covers his
eyes in pain after being tear gassed for standing in a crowd
of tailgaters before Saturday's Western/Central rivalry game.
Female Western students came to Gawronski's aid leading him
away from the cops as they yelled and threatened to gas him
again.
Man, I thought this was a good photo until
spending time talking to my professor about it. Burned the
background down, the grass/ground you can see throught the
people. removed shadows from the girl on the left's face,
same with hands of everyone, saturated and added color to
peoples faces/hands. Sharpened.

Four year old Hemlock, Mich., resident Jesse
Thrasher is hit in the face with a pancake as it bounces
off his plate during the 3rd Annual Pancake Breakfast at
Sacred Heart Elementary on Saturday. Children had to catch
their food, with assistance from Santa Claus, that morning. I'm not sure if I like the new one more... I corrected
the whites of the gloves, and santa suit... well... basically
I removed yellow from the entire the thing. I removed highlights
from the background, and blues from that thing on the back
left. I also dodged the faces a touch... which is hard to
do because my screen is about twice as bright as most monitors...
so it probably looks fine on yours... but is iffy on my end.

Ray Adame sits down in his barber chair after
finishing with a client Thursday morning.
Corrected white, removed some magentas,
and reds, removed highlights from everything but Ray. Brightened
him a bit to get him to pop from the background... however
the mirrors and daylight still draw most of the attention.
Overall just a hard shot to work on.
