Sunday:

We started Sunday with the intent to stay home all day and do chores… by chores, of course, we meant laundry. You should see the size of the machines here. Back home I would be able to fit both loads (colors and whites) into one load if I had to. Where as here I was wondering if I could fit all my colors in at once, after all it was only a week's worth…that's not too much is it?

Justin ran his whites first; Sue showed us how to run the washer. She said afterward to put them in to dry for a bit, then to let them hang dry the rest… Ok, no big deal if that's how they do it here. So Justin did that and we chilled here in our room for most of the morning (we got up around 9 or so). After I put my colors in we decided to take a break and go down to Portobello marketplace. We met up with everyone and walked all the way there, it was probably about a mile or two. The shops we passed had some decent stuff I guess. I'm not planning on buying anything while I'm here, so I'm not really looking at anything.

We stopped at a place for sandwiches on the way home, and it was probably the best sandwich I've had on this trip yet. Justin agrees, we paid about 2.50pounds for it and it was a huge sandwich (huge for England anyway). We caught the Tube home after that and got back to our place. I put another load of laundry in, but apparently selected the wrong cycle. I chose “medium load, normal wash” and for some reason it took about an hour and twenty minutes to wash the clothes… but I had some clean socks, let me tell you.

Much later, about 9:30 or so Justin and I went down to the little town area near our house. We went to see what restaurants they had there. We ended up eating at a little burger place. I paid 1.25 for a cheeseburger, 1pound for chips/fries, and 60p for a 7up. The food was actually really good. Justin had a spicy chicken ka bob in pita bread. I didn't think it was too spicy, but my tolerance is a little higher than his.

During dinner the girls called and wanted to go out, I still had homework to do, so I passed. Justin went out with them and ended up staying out til 5am , crazy bastard. I walked home, called Suzanne on the way to say hello. Then went home, read a bit and crashed.

Monday:

A normal school day. I checked my email for the first time since the previous Thursday I think. I had about 180 new messages… 160 of them were junk. I joined the school gym; it cost me about $64 total for one month, so I'm planning to go every day to get my monies worth out of it. The messed up thing was that they made me schedule a “tour/walk through” for Thursday to make sure I know how to do everything. I know they're going to take those two days away from the month I paid for too. Class was fine except it was really cold the night before. I woke up with a cough/sore throat. After class I ended up just going back home to lay around for the night.

Tuesday:

I spent soo much on food today. For lunch we were going to go to a pub for lunch. Well, we did go, but it was a two-for-one type thing, and I was the odd man out. So I left to go to a deli. On my walk I ran into Jenny, Sara and some others. They were down for the Pub and said they'd get lunch with me. We walked the three blocks back…and ended up leaving cuz it was too busy. We went to the Duck and Dive here at school for food instead. Again, I was the odd one out when we found a table, since there was no where for me to sit, I left again. I walked down to the deli near school. I paid 2.10pounds for a roast beef sandwich. When I got it it was two slices of white bread, a small amount of mayo, and one slice of roast beef. SO not worth the money.

Still hungry I walked back to school. I ran into Justin, Matt, and Ben in the cafeteria area. I chilled with them a bit before deciding to buy a piece of pizza. I paid 2.50 this time for a very gross piece of pepperoni pizza and slice of toasted sourdough with barely any butter on it; they called it garlic bread. Before class we all went to the little market a few blocks from school. I stopped at the street fruit vendor and bought three Chinese pears for 1pound. I ate one on the way to class, and one in class.

After class we again tried to figure out what do for dinner, we went back to Marlborough Arms (the pub from lunch) but this time they were out of pretty much everything on the menu. We left and decided to just go to the theatre for Les Miserables, which we were going to see with class. After we got there we walked around for a short while trying to find decently priced food, we didn't. We paid 2pounds for HORRIBLE pizza, and then went to the show. I stopped off on the way and got a Pepsi since I was really thirsty.

The show was awesome; I got hungry again and ate the last pear I had, haha. I'm not sure why I was so hungry all day. I called Jill afterward since she was the only person I could think of who would appreciate me seeing that play. I'm pretty sure she didn't recognize my voice though. Justin and I headed home, and crashed after we got in.

Wednesday:

Didn't do much today. I had classes. I finished reading my fourth book for this trip… or is it my fifth… It was “The Importance of Being Earnest”, it took me about an hour or two. After class I went to the gym. I'm really out of shape I've noticed, it felt a lot better to work out for a hour. Though there school is lacking in much equipment. The “walk through” I did today was pretty lame, the girl made sure I could use one machine, and do one free-weight exercise, then said “ok, you're done”. THAT WAS IT?? I could have done that on Monday… oh well. After that I went to the computer to see who was online back home. I talked to a few people before some chick came up and pulled the “I'm sorry, I signed up for this computer…” bullshit. Fortunately I wasn't in a rude/asshole mood. First off, it was 5:48 … meaning she couldn't have signed up for that time slot… If she signed up for 5:30 , she was late… that's her problem not mine… Either way, I didn't care much. Said my good byes, and got off the computer. I stayed and talked to a few people who were hanging out there, and used one of the other computers (since there were other open ones) and checked some stuff online. After that I just headed home to relax and try and kick my cough for good.
