Journal 9 Monday: This was our trip to Bath , it was an optional overnight trip up north to the city of Bath . I paid the 50pounds to go, so I packed up that morning and went to the Victoria train station to meet up with everyone. I didn't sleep much because I kept waking up during the night. I also had to get up early to make sure I had time to pack a couple things and get to the station on time. If we were late we'd have to buy another ticket, and I wasn't about to do that. I ended up arriving at the train station more than an hour early, I read the paper wrong. I wandered the station a bit and looked around, and spent most of the time waiting, listening to my Ipod. Slowly people started to arrive, so I had people to talk to. Ironically enough Jill, the teacher, was late. And Shereen ended up missing the train completely. After the hour and half ride, we made it to Bath . Vivek led us in the wrong direction, and into a dead end ally. We finally made it to where we were staying, the YMCA. We checked in and got our room info. They had all the guys in one large “dorm” room. Twelve guys in a room with six bunk beds; I got top bunk and Jeff was below me. Everyone else called their beds and threw their stuff down. After that it was time to find a place for lunch. We all, almost all, went to one of the places that were recommended to us in our info packet. It was a pub that happened to be the oldest pub in town. The food was better than most of the pub food I've eaten here. After eating we went to meet up for our “Jane Austin walking tour”. No offense to anyone who loves Jane Austin; but I've never read Jane Austin, nor to I plan to ever read Jane Austin. So this tour was lost on most of the students, since no one has read either of the two books she wrote while she lived in Bath . And no one really cares too much about five of the six places she lived. Though it did make us walk all around Bath , so we got to see most of the city. When the tour was done we were left to do anything we wanted to. I went and bought dinner at convenience store. I was thirstier than anything else; I bought a liter of Strawberry Milk, it was pretty good. Will and I walked around for a bit, and I came across The Disney Store, in Bath … how random is that? After that I sat in a little shop with Aaron, Laura, Kelly, Katie, and Will for a while and we all talked about different. They actually wanted to hear all about Disneyworld and all the stories I have from working there. After that we went to this really good cookie shop and bought cookies. Then we went back to the Y, if I recall correctly. Everyone was getting hungry for dinner. I went out to find a place with Shereen, Jeff, Shawn, Steven, Matt, April and Erin showed up randomly too. We all sat and chilled. I split some Cheesy Garlic Bread with Matt. This place had even better pub food, haha. I also split some fries with Shawn, who's probably the most generous guy on this trip so far. After this place everyone wanted to go find a pub to chill at and drink. So after they found the cheapest beer in town everyone went in to drink. I walked around the town some more, which was all lit up at night. It was really beautiful; I tried to take a bunch of pictures though they didn't really come out too well. Jenny walked around with me for a bit too since she wanted to see the area at night. We ran into Jeff who was on his way to a pub himself. We ended up having to walk around to some other pubs since when we got back to the first pub everyone was gone. We ended up at a club, the Cadillac or Pink Cadillac. It turns out everyone was in there drinking and waiting for the DJ to arrive…three hours later. So we all chilled and talked for a while. By the time the music started pretty much the whole group was pretty far gone. There was some interesting conversations, most of which I probably couldn't even begin to explain. Shereen and I left around 1am and went back to the Y. I laid around and talked to Aaron and Kelly who were already back there; we were talking about Disney related stories, since Kelly wanted to hear more things that go on there. Everyone else came home around 2am or so, completely drunk. From that point on it was a lot of yelling, since Jay was trashed and yelling at everyone else. Everyone was egging him on, but at the same time we all just wanted him to shut up and go to sleep. He was talking to Chad and Martin asking questions like “Who was the best Batman”. That only made everyone else more pissed off, and the yelling continued. When some drunk people down in the ally started yelling at each other, things just worse. Aparently these guys were yelling and fighting. And Martin yelled “Now kiss and make up”. Then the people started yelling at us, and threw a pound at the window. After that everyone came in off the ledge and shut the windows. The yelling with Jay continued even more; Matt was ready to kill him at one point. Everyone finally shut up though… and we got a little bit of sleep…a little |
