Journal 31 Take fourty-something-odd students on their last week in London, add lots of alcohol.... Wednesday: So today started out normal enough. Well, sort of. I got up as normal and went to school to download email - as is my routine. Today though I had two English finals to do. Now English finals aren't that bad, except when you have two of them back to back. Well I think I did horrible on my first one. It was on the book The Rainbow, which was a good book, but it long and a little difficult to follow. I've read so many books this trip all the stories blend into one. I'm pretty sure it was Will who dated Louise until she wrote "Shit" on his wall and then Clarissa told him that he had an oedipal complex and was secretly in love with his Polish wife's child Anna... is that right Jill? Anyway, yeah, I had a rough time on that final. After that I had another final on Hamlet. Thankfully I know Hamlet a hell of a lot better. I was able to get about half the quote identification without opening my book; and for those of you who've read Shakespeare know that can be difficult. I was also the first one done with this test... which either means that I did well, or horrible. After class I went to the AIFS office and sat around talking to the other students there. Everyone was talking about the party later that night. So after that I went home, cooked dinner, and then got ready for the party with Justin. We went to school and met everyone there, and walked the whole way to the club. Why we didn't take the tube is beyond me, it would have been a lot easier, but oh well. On the way there April called Rachel from my cell phone; the first or second week we were here we were talking and realized we had a few mutual friends. Well we stopped Tesco so everyone could buy drinks to get drunk before they went into the club. Once inside we realized the whole thing was still gettin started. It was about 8:20 and we were told to be there 8:00. I guess the people were still trying to kick out Brits who'd been there since lunch time. I was talking to Scott and he said "You have to really love a place to sit in it ALL day and not want to leave." I agreed. So slowly everyone started to arrive and start socializing. For a while we were all walking around with cameras taking group pictures with everyone since this was pretty much the last time we were going to see them. Courtney, Katie, Sara, Erin and everyone else kept dragging me out to dance. They said that more guys needed to be out there dancing. I kept trying to get away, I suck at dancing. Kelly apparently had told Aaron that he wanted to get drunk that night, since it was the last week there. So Aaron had Kelly do shots with everyone. I guess he did about five in ten minutes or something. Anyway, I'm not sure if Kelly had anything after that... but he was pretty faded the rest of the night. At one point he was sitting adjusting his camera. Laura reached over and took it from him. "Here Kelly, let me take that. John! Hold onto this..." "Kelly, you sure you don't mind if I use your camera?" He nodded that it was fine, so I now I had a MUCH better camera to walk around and use for the night (when I have two grand to spend on a camera, I'm buying one of these). His camera was awesome, he set it to automatic for me so I wouldn't have to worry about messing with settings. I started just snapping away taking pictures of everyone and everything. The teachers would move out of the pictures and kind of hide when they could. I feel really bad because the teachers aren't really allowed to have too much fun. Although we're out of school now and they're not really our teachers anymore, they have to still kind of act like teachers. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but yeah. I guess what I'm saying is that the teachers can sit and have a beer with the students. But they couldn't sit and do shots and joke around with everyone, you know? Part way through the night I was near the DJ booth and I was watching a few people on the dance floor and I saw the DJ just start freaking out. He seemed to be watching someone, so I looked to see who he was watching. He was watching Catherine. So I watched her too; she walked past and over to her coat and got her pack of cigarettes. The DJ then started yelling to someone, and ended up just calling the person on his cell phone. The person was the club manager or something because he came running to the DJ booth. They then called over the bouncer and pointed in Catherine's direction. The bouncer then walked over and started yelling at Matt (or was it Martin?) because he thought that's who the manager pointed at, granted Matt had been dancing on the couches 10 minutes before but at the time was just sitting down doing nothing. The manager then ran over yelling "NO NOT HIM. HER!" and pointed right at Catherine. So they pulled her aside and the DJ said she had stolen a cd from him. Whether or not he was telling the truth I don't know. I do know that the DJ was letting pretty much all the girls into his booth to request songs; so I don't think he can be too surprised that something went missing. Anyway, Catherine freaked out with everyone yelling at her and then they started yelling at Nadia too. The DJ grabbed his coat and threatened to walk out. The manager went and got Nigel, one of our program coordinators, and got him involved. The DJ was still ready to leave but the manager made him stop. When Catherine said she didn't take the cd, and Manager swore the DJ was right, the Manager then told Nigel he wanted everyone from our program out of the club. Nigel started arguing that that was a bit extreme. As far as I could tell, it seemed a little too convenient that they wanted to kick us out. It was about 30 minutes before most people were going to be leaving, an hour or so before the club was going to close, and they had already probably made a few thousand quid off all the alcohol at the bar, oh, and the club staff had been giving shit to everyone all night and saying stuff like "oh, they're just American's." and "Fucking Americans". Well Nigel kept them from kicking us out, and Nadia found the cd under the couch or something. The Manager gave it back to the DJ who started screaming "I told you. I TOLD YOU. I KNEW SHE FUCKING TOOK IT. WAS IT WHERE I SAID IT WAS. I KNEW IT." I stood and talked to Nigel for a little bit about what had just happened, and then Jill came up and asked my opinion on what happened. After that Catherine and Nadia left and went home. I kept wandering around to take pictures and hang out with everyone. Justin was so drunk he dropped Sam's camera into his beer. Ariel gave Scott a lap dance. And Ivar kept disappearing and freaking people out; they thought he was passed out in the bathroom or something. I finally left around 12:15 to try and catch the Tube home. I finally got home, got ready for bed, and crashed.
