Germany, Day 2
Hennethal

"einze fri tri "

Sunday:

I woke up today to Josi(phene) and Maxi(millian) standing at my door saying "Hallo! John! Hello! John!" They had come to wake me up for breakfast. I turned over and "Hello". Maxi responded with "Hello". "Oh you speak English" I said. "Yeah. A little" Maxi said. Josi said "Hi John!" and handed me a card that she made me. I thanked them both; and they said to come eat breakfast. I got up, showered (first real shower in a while) and went out to breakfast.

Everyone was sitting down starting to eat, and I joined them. For breakfast we had croissants, rolls, chocolate rolls, a cookie (for Christmas) and Orange Juice, oh and a hard boiled egg. They made sure that I ate plenty of food too; I barely eat breakfast at home, but here I was supposed to eat a lot. Josie showed me the little bits on English she knew - the numbers one to ten. So I asked her to teach me the German one through ten; I'm not sure I remember all of them.

So after breakfast, which was quite long due to it's size, I got a chance to get online and check my email. I was given a tour of the house, which is huge, and the kids showed me their pet rabbit and also their rooms (of which they're very proud).Ulrike then took me on a walk around the town and pointed out a few different things. It's a pretty small place here so it doesn't take too long to g around the whole thing. We then had to get home and wait for the kids to get back. Lunch was massive; it was potatoes and meat, porkchops (I think), and bread. After doing a few things around the house we got ready to go to the Christmas Party, the one that the whole town was going to be at. The party was really interesting because the whole town was in this small building for the Christmas party. They had a show every forum (grade level) of the school. They started at the youngest and worked they're way up. After that they were visited by Santa Clause who gave gifts to all the children. There was dessert to eat; I tried three different things that were supposed to be "very german" - they were all good. Ulrike and Roger bought me at least three bottles of Coke, I swear I will never be able to keep up with the eating here in Germany. While I was at the party Sabine showed up. She's the other girl, from the same town, who also helped take care of me when I was a little baby. My mom had lost contact wi ht her and didn't know if she'd be here in town while I was here. As it turned out, Sabine had lived in Boston for two year, and was now living in Mexico City - but happened to be back in Germany this year for Christmas. So I got a chance to talk to her for a while and catch up.

After the play we went back to house to see about going to get dinner - it felt like we had just eaten lunch. They wanted to take me to this little place they have here in town. I had just long enough to check my email and make sure my parents knew I was here in Germany before we headed out to our 7:00pm reservation. It's a restaurant here in town, it's the only one, and it's really good. We sat down and I asked Roger to order whatever he thought was good for me to try, so he did. We had ribs which were damn good; and that turned out to just be the first course. After that we had steak, then potatoes, and also had garlic bread and normal bread too. The meal was really good and I seriously felt as though I was going to explode after eating so much that day.

We went home so the kids could get to sleep since they have to get up at 6:30 to get ready for school. I worked on my computer for a bit, then set it upload pictures and updates to my site. I was able to catch up with some friends and my family who were all online, so that was nice. I went to bed around 12ish or so, the comforter here in warm - I'm buying one like when I go up North.
