Journal 40 Monday: Today started when Roger woke me around around 8:30 to get ready for the day. I showered and changed and then went to eat breakfast. This morning it was cereal, toast, and juice - a very American breakfast, lol. I sat and talked to Ulrike as I ate and she told me the different things planned for the day. We left the house and headed out to see some castles and ruins. They drove me around and stopped at one of the nearby castles so I could take some pictures. Ulrike and I walked around and looked while Roger waited near the car; we were in no-parking area. After that we drove some more and looked at more castles as we passed them. We headed down the Rhine and Ulrike and Roger told me about the different areas that we were passing. We stopped off at a statue near the top of one of the hills. Unfortunately it was foggy so we couldn't get the view of the Rhine down below us; though I was able to listen to the English version of the audio description of the area. After that we stopped off in one of the little towns there that's famous for it's wine. We walked around the shops and the Christmas village they had set up. Then we went into one of the little restaurants for lunch. Today I had Schnitzel with mushrooms; it was really good (German food rocks). They had this really strange band playing in the restaurant though. Both Ulrike and Roger hated the music, but Roger wanted me to eat in a really-german restaurant. Roger also bought me a little map of the area and marked off what I had seen that day. After eating we left the town and headed back toward home. At home we went nextdoor to pick up Josi, but she was busy playing with her cousins and stayed rather than going home, haha. I was able to get on and check email, I needed to try and get ahold of Chris to figure out when we were going to be meeting up. When Maxi came home we sat down for dinner. Today we had breads, meats, and cheeses; Maxi was disappointed because he wanted something hot. Later that evening I went down into one of the nearby towns with Ulrike so I could the area. We walked around and looked at all the christmas lights and little shops. We talked about the movie theatre they had there, and also about the stores. I said that shoes over here are really expensive, and she told me she'd take me to Foot Locker tomorrow and show me the prices there. We went home after that and hung around there. Ulrike kept telling me to "eat cake" since I'm not eating too much apparently, hahaha.
