Still rockin South Korea

Still kickin it in South Korea!
I’m here just a few more days, but I’ve spent most of this lovely (and very cold) Saturday working on my laptop catching up on email and downloading images. So, I’m going to post a brief update for everyone and share with you a selection of more images from the trip. Again, I feel it necessary to say that these are not edited and not color corrected – so please forgive me if they look a bit off.

Since the last post we’ve been through about three other cities and I’m now back in Yeongtong-gu, near Suwon… back where I started. We’re going to be chilling here and doing a few local things. We’re at that point toward the end of the trip where we’re trying to save a bit of cash. Traveling around the country has been fairly cheap… But, I’ve been on an extremely tight budget these two weeks. So, tomorrow we’re headed back to Seoul to see the Seoul Tower and Fortress there – and that’s the end of my trip.

I’ll likely write a lengthier blog Tuesday after I return to the States and have some time to really sort through images that I haven’t shared yet. So, until that time… enjoy these images from the last five days or so!

Just got off the bus for a little more caving. This one, however, was supposed to be much larger and much more impressive. Those mountains I’m pointing at… we’re about hike into those.

It was really pretty for the hazy November weather… can’t imagine what it must look like in June.

Gettin closer to the top!

Made it! That’s one HUGE entrance…

They had all these lights set up. It wasn’t this bright though… My camera is resting on the beam with a 3 second exposure.

This is a bit more accurate as far as lighting. The cave was awesome though. Took quite a while to see the whole thing.

This was one of the best tasting meals we’ve had… and we bought in the markets. For the roll, and a FULL plate of each type of noodle… we paid about $2.75.. so we got seconds on each noodle dish. The total was under $5, how awesome is that?

Wandering the markets a bit more around Samcheok before catching our bus out of town.

Dried fish anyone? The large ones handing on right are stingrays.

Hahaha!
Shortly after this we boarded the WRONG bus to Gyeongju. We had to take two more connections with the help of the drivers who made sure we moved to the right bus at each stop. The Korean’s are so nice, it was really amazing of them.

Rooms here are so cheap! This one also has TWO computers with internet connections in them for you to use. This is nicer than most college students dorms… and they only charge about $30 a night.

Some of the Royal Tombs here in Gyeongju.

One of many stone pagodas we’ve seen on this trip.

Starting our hike up the mountain to see a stone Buddha… ended up being a very loooong hike.

Little did we know that this was at the very top of the mountain. But, we made it up in time before sundown.

Beautiful sunset with all the blues and purples on the surrounding hills and mountains.

This is outside the Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto the next day. I’m bummed that they didn’t allow photography there… so sad. The granite Buddha there is one of the worlds most important religious antiquities – which is probably why you can’t photograph it…

At least the walk down the mountain was pretty.

I’m actually making into some of the photos this trip!

Me again! Having Colleen here to take a few shots means I don’t come home with just one-armed photos of me during this trip. Yay!

Decided to try one of these corn dogs on the way back to the bus. It’s dipped, cooked, dipped again, cooked again.. then has sugar and ketchup on it. It was actually pretty good… except for the ketchup, I can’t stand ketchup.

The next day we wandered around more Gyeongju. They have some really pretty parks right there in the downtown area.

One thing I find interesting is that people farm every available area they can… even right here on the side of a creek.

Wandering around Anapji Pond. They were doing construction/rebuilding so there wasn’t a ton to see.

But, it’s me again! Have you guys noticed how little I broke out my strobes on this trip? I’ll probably regret it later… oh well.

Whoaaaa. Wild, huh? Anyone hungry?
We watched the guy gut and clean one in preparation for sale, too.

Not even sure how to caption this one…

Here’s the most American thing I’ve had on this trip. Went into a Dunkin’ Donuts to sit and warm up… so I needed to buy something. The Vanilla Mocha thing I got was awesome… just too much whipped cream.

Waiting for the train! Heading back to Suwon.

So, that wraps this update. I’ll be heading home in two days. I have a ton of work waiting for me when I get back. Well, a wedding to finish and a calendar to wrap up. Excited for Thanksgiving, too! I’ll be in the Bay Area… so if you’re going to be nearby, be sure to call me up so we can catch up on life!

Peace!

An nyoung ha seh yo! (Hello from Korea!)

I made it to Korea!
Well, I’m only in South Korea… so don’t worry, haha. And check out this shot of me and Colleen on the bus ride from the airport to Suwon… I look halfway decent after being on a plane alllll night. I left LAX at 12:30a to Incheon and was supposed to connect through Bejing. Well, Bejing was snowed over, so we actually landed somewhere else, waited, refueled, then flew to Bejing, I connected, and then flew to Incheon. It was long… let me tell you.

But, I’ve actually been in Korea for a week. I arrived Tuesday afternoon. As much as I’d love to write a long detailed blog with my experience… I have way too many photos I’d like to share. So, please forgive me as many of these are unedited and straight from camera. I was able to do a light edit, but my laptop screen isn’t calibrated (I bought it two days before my trip). So, they will look a bit rough. I’m sorry, haha.

The markets in Suwon. Really awesome stuff, some of it I won’t eat… I’ll be honest.

We hiked up the Fortress wall and had this amazing view of the city.

Suwon markets at night. It was starting to get chilly… and would continue to get cold as my trip progressed.

Late night Potbingsu (shaved ice) with Colleen, Chelsea, and Frank.

Colleen and I went to the Korean Folk Village. She made friends with this horse…

… I made friends with this cow! He was pretty awesome.

Ninja training at the University here in town… I say training because, obviously, we can see them… and you never see true ninjas.

Check out the library at the school… how intimidating. I bet you feel smarter just walking in…

Dinner! One of many amazing meals that I’ve had on my trip so far.

Wandering the streets of Seoul. Waiting for the sun to go down for the lantern festival that night.

Me and Colleen. Been walking around allll day. Tiring.

You can leave your own messages at the lantern festival on these smaller lanterns.

The Lantern Festival was really beautiful. I’m glad that we caught it on our way through Seoul. I didn’t get to see the Seoul Tower, but we’re heading back at the end of the week to check it out.

If I had a marker I would have left a message or prayer myself…

Bulgogi with June and Colleen late that night.

Check it out! It’s North Korea! Across the water… June took us to the DMZ and we were able to see part of North Korea… crazy to be that close…

Wandering around this little shopping town with colorful buildings and roofs. Such gorgeous weather.

Sleeping on the Subway… if I knew exactly how far we had to go… I would have slept too.

We went to see the palace… and Colleen ended up being interviewed but these college students…

So I went to take photos while she was busy, haha.

On the way back into the subway I was interviewed. They had to take a photo with me, so I took one with them, haha!

Headed back to the subway after figuring out the trains/buses we needed to take that night.

Check out this budget motel!?! Haha, a round bed! Uncomfortable as hell, and my feet hung off it, but the room was nice and warm in the freezing weather.

It was gorgeous at the beach. Don’t get me wrong, it was cold as hell, but still very nice.

Wandering the pier.

We went to Seoraksan National Park to go hiking. It was freezing. I actually had to buy ear cover things cuz it was so windy.

Hiked up to one of the water falls. Gorgeous hike, just cold and windy.

These guys were HILARIOUS! They’re old friends who’ve known each other since Jr. High. They played Rock-Paper-Scissor to see who was going to have to get wet in the freezing weather.

And after a few rounds… one of the guys lost. Poor guy, he had to have been freezing afterward.

The views around the park really were stunning though.

This soup was amazing after hiking in the cold. We still had one more hike to go, too.

This photo doesn’t show the scale of this 40 foot Buddha.

I’m sure it’s even more beautiful during the summer months.

Had to photograph this little dude at temple we hiked to.

I totally meant to crop this photo… damn it. Anyway, this is the bridge in Sokcho at night. Really beautiful colors. I need to do more night photography I think.

This little guy was still moving when he was brought out to us. I’m not going to lie… he was delicious. And he was still moving when we were done, too.

Now this was so cool it was almost creepy. It’s a squid farm/thing where they dry these squid on this poles in the yard. We also stumbled upon it the night before, when it was dark and dimly lit.

I’m not a fan of squid… but I’m sure this is delicious looking for many people.

Wandering the fish markets. Plenty of dried fish for your enjoyment..

Lunch today was made up of three things. One was a simple gimbap. The other was a squid/egg kind of thing. It was fried and tasted a lot like a Denver omelet to be honest. And, of course, soup.

There is no shame here on the streets of Korea… hahaha!

Caving!

The caves were actually gorgeous. We’ll be going to a larger one tomorrow, too.

Pretty sweet room this evening. I actually have internet and can update you all without going to a coffee shop!

Well, that’s all for now. Hopefully you all actually took the time to at least skim these photos. I’m not sure when I’ll be back online next. Probably not for a few days. But feel free to leave any comments or shoot me a message. And check back soon, I may have the chance to do another post sooner than expected.

Peace Out, America!

This trip… requires one additional thing to carry…

I’m leaving the States! In about five hours or so I’ll be boarding Air China and headed to the East! I’ll be spending the next two weeks traveling around South Korea with my friend Colleen – whom I haven’t seen face to face since our days in college in Michigan.
And how cool is a little reunion in a completely different country, huh?

I’m bringing pretty minimal amounts of everything – including my camera gear. I’ll be headed there with only my Mark III, wide and normal L lenses, and one 580EXII. I’ll also have my laptop – so keep your fingers crossed that I’ll be about to post a mid-trip update!

I’ve been pretty busy the last couple weeks editing and booking more shoots for when I return to the US at the end of the month. My apologies for the lack of any serious update in the last two weeks, but, as I’ve said before, my contract work keeps me from releasing images until this project goes to press.

I’m potentially going to be updating my Twitter feed while traveling, but that’s still uncertain. Either way, keep yours eyes here on my blog for updates on my travels!

Have a great November everyone! I’ll be gone most of it ;-)

The three-day Soni-Jiwajinda Indian/Thai wedding weekend…

Sunol Country Club – Sunol, Calif. This is just one of three wedding ceremonies that I had the extreme pleasure of celebrating with Ahn and Krishan last weekend.
The above image is also straight out of camera. No joke. I removed a few dust spots with the dust removal tool in Lightroom, but other then that, this is how I saw it… and how I shot it. It was a GORGEOUS day that Sunday.

This particular wedding spanned three days and three different ceremonies – Thai, Indian, and American. Every one of them was unique in it’s own way. But I’ll be honest and say that the cultural ceremonies, Thai and Indian, were the most colorful and ceremonial. They really make it bland an American wedding can be by comparison.
That’s not to say that they simply had a white-wedding for the “white” ceremony, haha. Just take a look at the picture above… it was still bright, colorful and happy.

First, I’m going to have to start with this amazingly hot photo of Arsie and me… I’ve known her since 7th grade, and by our senior year in high school she was one of my best friends. I was there to work, so I didn’t get as much time to catch up on life as I would have liked… but it’s ok, we stalk one another on facebook and twitter to keep up with each others world travels and crazy lives…

The first ceremony was at the Thai temple. This was a completely new experience for me. I’ve shot various cultural weddings, but not Thai… and certainly nothing with monks (who were all very sweet). I don’t recall exactly which water ceremony this is unfortunately… so I won’t try and label it out of concern I’ll say it’s the wrong thing.

I always keep and eye on the fathers during weddings. This was right as Mr. Soni started to tear up during the Indian sangeet ceremony Saturday evening. Watching him embrace Krishan for this series of shots was really heartwarming – you could see how proud he is of his son. Also, all the flowers they used for their ceremonies were flown around the world the day before just for these events, and their robes hand selected by Krishan’s aunts in the markets of New Delhi.

Another favorite shot of mine is this image of Ahn’s hands. She had traditional henna tattoos applied to her hands Saturday night at the sangeet. She opted to only do her palms since she wanted the outside of her hands clear in the wedding photos on Sunday. They did a really beautiful job though, I’m so glad I was able to capture it.

“Let’s go take shots somewhere nicer than the hall” is what was said after this image was shot. I actually disagree. The moment, the pose, and a beautiful bride having just put on her wedding dress make this photo everything that it is. Ahn’s dress was ordered and hand made in Thailand. All the beading was done by hand – incredible.

On the way out… Ahn started walking faster to see how well she could move in her dress. Turned out to be a great opportunity for another shot.

I loved this moment where Ahn was watching out the window as her guests seated themselves outside. Like I’ve said many times, I’m not a fan of posed images. This moment is real, and something that she’ll be able to look back on and possibly remember what she was thinking rather than it being a shot I asked her to stand there for.

It was a bright and sunny day that Sunday afternoon in Sunol. The country club provided a beautiful backdrop, as a photographer I couldn’t have had more perfect shooting conditions.

Say it with me everyone… “Aweeeeeeee!!!”

After the ceremony, photos, etc Krishan and Ahn changed into their traditional Thai attire for the Thai water blessing. This was where their marriage was now official in Thai culture – a process they started the day before at the temple. And they definitely received a whole lot of blessings too – I had time to go get a number of other shots from the reception during this time, haha.

Their cake was beautiful – and equally delicious when it was finally cut later that evening.

Still in their ceremonial Thai clothing, Krishan and Ahn thank everyone for being part of such an important day. Much of their family flew all the way around the world from Thailand, India, and even South Africa – oh and all those East Coast friends, their flight was drop in the bucket by comparison.

Ahn’s younger sister, Arsie, made a photo slide show for them to watch. Krishan busted up laughing and Ahn hid her face when an elementary school photo of Ahn popped onto the screen.

The Daddy-Daughter dance… always one of my favorite parts of any wedding.

I never know what’s going to happen during the cake cutting… will someone smash it in the others face? Or will they not? In this case Krishan ended up shoving the cake up Ahn’s nose, she sweetly fed him cake normally… bummer, she missed her chance.

Like I said, the cake was delicious. You can already see them putting out slices in the background for everyone.

It’s always fun watching other newlyweds at a wedding. So cute.

Brides ALWAYS break it down on the dance floor… and if they have a little sister there with them… you damn well better get a shot of it.

Better yet, get a few photos…

After three days, three ceremonies, and 2,460 shots on my camera… The weekend comes to an end. Here’s Krishan, me, and Ahn. I do have to say we all still look pretty good considering how busy the day was. Thank you guys, you were families were amazing.

And one last shot of me and Arsie before I headed out for the night, and ultimately back to Socal the next morning.

Wow, so, if you read all that… I hope you enjoyed the shots. I’ve been incredibly swamped recently and have actually done about six other shoots in the last week. I did two back to back shoots the day before driving up to the Bay Area for this wedding, too.
But, alas, those shoots are for that client I mentioned and the project I can’t talk much about prior to publication. But, I’m sure I’ll have something later this week to share with you all. I also have my trip to Korea coming up quickly. Wow.

Good night all!

Introducing Ms. Megan Black

This evening I had the pleasure of creating some really sexy images with the stunning Megan Black.
Megan and I met last week while working for a client on a private project- and in a couple days put together another shoot just for fun.

Yesterday I went down to Laguna Beach to check out some various coves and areas that I had been wanting to scout for possible location shoots. Well, the extremely dense fog made me concerned that there wouldn’t be decent visibility for my shoot with Megan tonight.
While it wasn’t clear enough for a sunset, we still were able to make some great images that were just plain hot.

This shot is nearly completely black.. It was part of a series of images we took while walking off the beach tonight. There was a little cove we passed and we decided to try a couple more. Many of these images ended up being Megan’s favorites.

Anyway, I promised you guys an update with some great new work – I hope this meets those expectations!

I have a busy week ahead, four more shoots and an entire wedding weekend!

Check back for a mid-week update with more images of Megan, too.

Good night everyone!

Been busy, but can’t say much…

The majority of my time recently has been spent doing contract work on various projects.
Unfortunately, as contract work goes, I can’t talk about what I’m doing. I know that a number of you know what it is I’m talking about because, let’s face it, a number of you are involved in these shoots with me.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with many different models for many different projects also. The above shot is our creative team for one particular shoot with Melissa Miko – a powersports model that I’ve shot a few times now. You may remember her silhouette in one of my posts from last month – it’s also in my portfolio if you go look.

Also, last weekend I did some shots with Jenny down in Huntington Beach. She needed some simple beach photos done for her portfolio and some projects that she’s currently working on. I still have to finish editing some more from this shoot. But, here’s a quick preview… nothing crazy, just simple.

Long time friend, and comedian, Justin Worsham also recently asked me to do new headshots for him. I’m pretty damn sure that I haven’t laughed so hard on a photoshoot in a long time. I knew that I’d end up spending most of the evening with Justin and his wife (who I’ve also known 10 years now) catching up on life.
We even managed to do a quick impromptu family portrait session at the park with their young son.

Justin is hilarious, and just an awesome guy in general. Please check out his website: Justin Worsham.
He posts his tour dates for all over the United States. You can also catch him on Twitter, here.

But yeah, my explanation of my choice in head shot to share… this is the Justin I have always known… the goofy, funny guy that will always get you to smile.

Most recently I had the opportunity to photograph Jeff’s (far right) incredibly clean, and recently restored, Chevy Camaro.
One hundred percent American Muscle – this beast of a car sounds amazing when he fires up the massive engine. I’ve been active in the import tuning community for years; but I’ve always loved classic muscle cars – who doesn’t?
And Jeff is more than happy to talk about the memories he has with this vehicle – like taking his driver’s test in it. That’s right, it’s been family owned since Day 1.

I have other images of this beautiful car, which I would love to share… but I’ll need to save that for another update.

Tomorrow I’ll be shooting with the stunning Megan Black in Laguna Beach – unless the weather decides to work against us. So, expect some new images in a day or two.
I also have five other photo shoots and a wedding to do this week.
SO. BUSY.

But, please check back, ping me on Twitter, text and say hello if you have my contact info, etc.
I’ll be running around between Laguna Beach, all over Los Angeles, and then the Bay Area. But, I’d love to hear from you guys.

Peace outtie.

My Best Friend got Married…

My oldest and best friend TJ got married last weekend.
I don’t do many personal posts here, however this is something that definitely deserves a post regardless.

I have known TJ for 15 years, and we’ve got ourselves in and out of trouble during that time. But, Sunday, I saw TJ happier than I have ever seen him the entire time that we’ve known one another. After five years, he married Cassandra on the beach during one of the most fun ceremonies I’ve ever been to.
I was one of TJ’s best men – along with Evan. I promised TJ I wouldn’t take many photos… but it’s also a given that I’m going to shoot the biggest day of his life either way. I managed to come home with 1,000 photos from the weekend we spent at the beach house in Santa Cruz. Honestly, one great shot of their first dance like the one above and a few shots of me and the guys like you’ll see below is all I wanted to come home with.

It’s going to take me a while to get through them and tone everything. But it’s already a lot of fun looking at everything that other people shot on my camera while I was doing other things.

Me, Evan, TJ, and JD.
I met Evan and JD a year after TJ, we’ve all been friends for years. It’s crazy to look at a photo like this and realize how much older we are now.

I highly recommend getting a photo booth for your wedding. Seriously had wayyy too much fun with this thing. And in addition to the photo above this one, this is probably my favorite shot of us four in the last couple years.

Yes, I danced down the aisle… Katrina and I broke it down.

And people cheered when I tangoed with Evan shortly after. TJ is laughing in the background.

Even I was told many times how gorgeous their cake and choice of cake topper was. I can’t take credit for either though, haha. But it was delicious. I agree with that 100%.

The evening ended after a lot of dancing, drinks, TONS of photos, video, laughing, and great times with family and friends. I can only hope that when I get married one day it will be half as fun as TJ and Cassandra made theirs.

Another fun shot from this weekend was the sausage run.. no joke. We actually went to pick up food from a famous butcher shop for our BBQ the night before the wedding. Me, TJ, Mike, and Dale (who you can’t see) headed out to get food and then a ton of drinks from Costco. Even this trip was full of laughing and joking.

Last, is a group shot of Evan, TJ, and me.
This is after the BBQ we had at the beach house, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is lit up in the background. Evan and I are wearing dog tags that were our groomsmen gifts for the wedding that TJ and Cassandra had custom engraved for us.

I had a really amazing week back in the Bay Area. And for the first time in over a year since I moved, I was sad to leave again.
TJ and Cassandra had a really beautiful wedding, an amazing reception, and an incredible weekend full of family and friends. Like I said, I’ve never seen TJ or Cassandra so happy.

Evan and I are taking bets on which of the guys gets married next… haha.

Lucas Oil Off Road Racer Portrait Series

Chad Leising – Rockstar Energy, Hart & Huntington

Shortly after this shot Chad did three interviews about the race series from the Rockstar Energy pool they set up. It was hilarious.

I’ve spent many weekends this summer shooting the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series each time they’ve come through the various tracks here on the west coast. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of the drivers, teams, and team managers/owners. I’ve also met some really incredible photographers, too.
Well I decided that at the last LOORRS event I was at that I would start an ongoing photo essay. I would do very simple track-side portraits of the various drivers I knew and was meeting. I wanted to use harsh light, higher contrast, and just try and give a feel for what the series was like in the high temperature desert.
Between running from pit to pit, finding the drivers between their races, and shooting the races myself… I wasn’t able to complete nearly as many portraits as I hoped. But, there is always the opportunity at future races.

Enjoy the series. And please leave me some feedback or shoot me and email with your thoughts.

Josh Merrell – Liquid Graphics, Hart & Huntington

Josh was a really nice guy – and his wife was watching and laughing as I posed him for this shot. Although his bodyguard didn’t seem to like that I was touching him as I adjusted his shoulders… whoops… my bad.

Andrew Comrie-Picard – NOS Energy, K&N Engineering

Andrew came out to race off road trucks – he’s a rally racer… and you can sure as hell bet that not only did he take podium (3rd) but he also kicked some ass doing it by coming all the way up from the back of the pack.

Ricky James – S2, K&N Engineering

Ricky was incredible to watch race. After an injury from racing motocross left him disabled he now races off road truck. His precision driving is extremely apparent from my spot right there on the track. And taking 1st place finishes in this first races out that weekend he proved that he’s someone who will be around a while.

Rodrigo Ampudia – Papas & Beer

Rodrigo was one of the funniest guys on the track to talk with – probably because he’s a young guy out there on the track too. His team is great, and I have some awesome shots of Rodrigo pushing his truck to the limits on the track.

Corry Weller – Weller Racing

I met Corry shooting ATV/Quadcross… and then found out she races UTV and Superlite trucks at LOORRS. I’m fairly sure that I couldn’t do half the stuff she does on her ATV though out of fear I’d break my neck.

Bradley Morris – BME Motorsports, K&N Engineering

Bradley and his entire family and team are truly amazing people. I almost always hang out with these guys at the races and they always make sure I’m surviving in the heat/weather. Bradley races trophy kart right now – which has got to be the coolest thing to brag about at school, I swear.

Robby Melton – BME Motorsports

Robby is on the same team at Bradley, and a pretty good racer himself. I watched Robby snap a wheel completely off his kart and keep racing until the kart couldn’t handle the turns on three wheels and he had no choice but to stop. In my next life, sign me up to be a little badass like Robby, too.

Jimmy Stephensen

Jimmy and his team were great people, too. I didn’t get to spend much time chatting with them unfortunately.

Leroy Loerwald

I had actually met Leroy at the race prior to this particular weekend. Leroy had actually flipped his truck, multiple times, toward the beginning of the weekend. He broke his arm in the process. But, he was back and healed by this time out.

Malcolm Pointon

Malcolm actually races buggy, not the trucks that most of the other drivers I met race. I also had taken some really great shots of him a month before meeting him at a different race. If you skim through my portfolio you’ll find one of Malcolm hitting a jump in his buggy.

Todd Cuffaro – Rockstar Energy, Metal Mulisha

I had the hardest time tracking down Todd and Brian Deegan. However, right at sunset I was able to get a few minutes of Todd’s time for a quick shot. Brian, however, didn’t have time before his race unfortunately.

Carey Hart – Rockstar Energy, Hart & Huntington

The question I always get asked is if Carey is a nice guy – yes, he’s an incredibly cool guy. Carey was able to make time for me, as he said he would, in between a million other pre-race things he was running around trying to do. This shot makes him look pretty gruff, too; he’s really not this rugged looking in person… but I guess it adds to the effect.

So, that’s pretty much it. I’m hoping to continue to add to the series as time goes on. We’ll see how it all goes. I may do some more tweaking to the colors a bit before uploading to my portfolio. But for now, this is how the whole set will look.

And again, feedback is always welcome.

New Tearsheets section added!

Last night I built a new section in my portfolio for tearsheets.

My work has been used in many K&N Filter ads and AEM Intakes ads that you can find in 20+ magazines in 10+ types of sports/etc.
The image above is an ad you can find in ATV Insider. It features racer and friend, Corry Weller of Weller Racing in Chandler, Arizona. I met Corry at the Quadcross AMA kickoff event in Glen Helen, Calif. This image is actually from that race. I have since had the pleasure of seeing and photographing her at many off road races here in Socal since then.

You will also see many images/ads created for drifting featuring Vaughn Gittin Jr., Rhys Millin, and Tanner Foust. Also images from Motocross, other ATV events, and Off Road Racing.
Actually, the first thing you will see are tearsheets from the musical artist Derek Jameson’s magazine feature that I shot. This was printed in Unzipped a few months ago. You may have caught my blog about it…
I’m also working on tracking down tearsheets from my work that has appeared in BMX Magazine and Rebel Ink.

So, if you have time, check it out here, or click the image above.

Rooftop shoot at sunset – and lots of other editing…

Last night I photographed Nanaz on the rooftop of a garage in Riverside, Calif.
I actually bumped into her while shopping for clothing with Jenny for a previous shoot that I did, you may have read that blog.

Anyway, we’ve been in touch since and planned out a fairly simple shoot, at sunset, to take advantage of the sky and clouds. While the location wasn’t incredibly amazing one way or another, we were able to make a number of shots work. I’ll also be shooting a follow up high-key shoot with Nanaz of headshot-style images… she has incredibly beautiful brown eyes. And none of the photos we shot last night do them justice.

I would have loved to do these in Downtown LA… but, maybe next time.

Here’s one last one. This was just a quick shot before I adjusted any of my settings after moving indoors, into a parking garage. The really low-light effect worked out pretty well though. It gives the image a creepy feel.

Another thing that I’ve spent most of the last week on is catching on my racing edits.

I have images from many different races from multiple types of sports that I’ve been too busy to edit and upload the last three months. I know, it sounds crazy to be that far behind, however when you spend the summer handling the major race accounts that I did, you fall behind on your personal website really quickly.

This image was made during the XDL Sportbike Freestyle competition last month at Irwindale Speedway. I have images ready from this event, and also Flat Track racing at the Perris Speedway that are ready to be uploaded. I also have Motocross and Supermoto ready to go up as well.

This shot is of Darryl Atkins practicing for the X-Games. I have a few shots of him that will be going up, as well as I quick track-side portrait for the racer series I started.

I’m still working on Drag Racing, and also Off Road Racing from the Lucas Oil Series. Hopefully those will be prepped and ready for upload this next week. I’m sorry to those of you who are waiting for this larger update to my portfolio – I didn’t realize just how much work I had in store for me with everything.

I’m keepin’ at it though.
Shouldn’t be long…
